Candidates who successfully complete SCALES are offered admission into the JD program for the fall, or at their option, spring semester.SCALES candidates are required to complete a rigorous and specialized program of instruction and assessment by members of our full-time and adjunct faculty. It is, therefore, incumbent upon every candidate to make wise choices regarding their time and work ethic, and to arrive for SCALES fully prepared to exhibit the requisite dedication and competency necessary to succeed in the program.
The Law School has allotted up to 20 seats in its Fall 2020 entering JD class for SCALES candidates. Founded in 1899 on the principles of diversity, access, and opportunity, we offer outstanding legal training to an ethnically and racially diverse student population.Led by Dean Darby Dickerson, we proudly offer nationally renowned programs in legal writing, trial advocacy, and intellectual property law. Our faculty members serve in prominent roles relating to their fields of expertise, including intellectual property, international law, and human rights.Our faculty are also routinely quoted as legal experts in major publications, including the Students have the option of earning a JD with a certificate in alternative dispute resolution, intellectual property law, international human rights law, sustainability, or trial advocacy.Students can also earn a joint JD/LLM in employee benefits, estate planning, information technology and privacy law, intellectual property law, international business and trade law, real estate law, and tax law. We understand that many candidates will be working full time and have family and other commitments.
