Before that, Jane was primarily known for her work with children’s books, a reputation she garnered after she wrote ‘A Long Way from Verona’, a children’s book released in 1971 and which followed a thirteen year old protagonist. Her careful selection of characters placed in ordinary positions of their time, only to develop into a more dramatic situation by the turn of the last page, has kept readers revisiting these ageless classics time and again. Moreover, she now had full access to her father’s library.Sometime in 1787, Jane Austen began writing.
